Police said the boy, identified as Danish (12), died after being hit by a bullet during celebratory firing allegedly by supporters of SP candidate from Sambhal Iqbal Mahmood. Sambhal is about 350 km from here.
SP DK Garg said necessary action was being taken.
Reports from Jhansi, around 300 km from Lucknow, said a crowd, angry over the delay in declaration of the Babina seat results, went berserk injuring some journalists and damaging cameras.
Trouble started at the BKD college counting centre after technical problems in two EVMs stalled counting. When even by 6.30pm results were not declared, the eager, waiting crowd lost patience and barged in. For the next 20 minutes, all hell broke loose as the crowd uprooted wooden posts from barricades and went on a rampage. Akhilesh said two groups clashed before the results came out in Jhansi and that he had spoken to the police.
“We have discussed to get mediapersons out safely and stern action will be taken against who's behind it.”
In Firozabad, two people were injured with one receiving gun shot injuries as supporters of defeated SP candidate from Sadar, Azim Bhai, clashed with police and opened fire demanding recounting.
