Vigil has been stepped up in the wake of Sukma district Collector Alex Paul Menon’s abduction by the Maoists in neighbouring Chhattisgarh on April 21.
The security has been tightened keeping the past incidents in mind when the rebels used to cross over the border after perpetrating crime in neighbouring states, he said.
Adequate security personnel have been deployed along the border, he said.
Palamau Deputy Commissioner Puja Singhal, meanwhile, convened a meeting and issued directions to the government officials working in the district to avoid venturing out at night, according to official sources.
Even during visiting any area during the day, she asked the officials to take adequate security along with them, the sources said.
