Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who set the fastest time on the rain-interrupted first day, handed over testing duties to teammate Felipe Massa who set the fifth fastest time with a 1:22.257.
Reigning double world champion Sebastian Vettel was third fastest in his Red Bull as the team decided to split testing duties amongst their drivers with Mark Webber driving in the morning session.
Mercedes’ Michael Schumacher logged the most milage at the 5.245 km circuit with 144 laps.
Schumacher, who has publicly complained about the one-make tyres supplied by Pirelli, set the eighth fastest time with 1:23.404.
Neither of McLaren’s race drivers are participating at the test and in their absence the team’s test driver Gary Paffett got behind the wheel to set the 11th fastest time of the day.
