In this bustling suburb, it’s hard to find a café that’s not always ‘hyperactive’ — even in the middle of the afternoon. 2. Fellas, Khar
This is one of the most casual, fuss-free and homely cafés to work from in the Bandra-Khar-Santa Cruz belt. Black wicker armchairs and tables, and wooden benches with coloured cushions make for comfortable furniture for long working hours.
Food and drink: Fellas is a health café and therefore the food options here are apt for those sedentary long hours. Whole-wheat pizzas and sandwiches, light salads and healthy fruit concoctions are the best options to stay sprightly while working.

Situated on the quiet road — Yogi Nagar — that stays empty during most of the day, The Gossip Café is like a saviour on a stretch of land that has nothing, but residential complexes on one hand and marshland on the other. This graphic-novel online library that recently also turned into a café, is just right if you are looking to work from a quaint, cosy spot with simple cane furniture in the outside section, and black wooden tables in indoors. In the basement library, there are small nooks inset within the bookshelves, where you can crawl under and work as well.
Food and drink: Sandwiches with fillings uncommon in the city — like peanut butter and jelly, chicken, bacon and egg sandwich — and Oreo cookies with milk, chops, cutlets and desserts like cheesecakes and cupcakes make up this humble restaurant’s menu.

Perks: There is no music in this café and there is no traffic in this bylane — a double whammy for those looking for a quiet spot to work.
Tip: Catch the table indoors, by the window, so you can keep looking out for a quick refreshing fix. Also, you might want to carry a charged laptop with you as there aren’t sufficient plug points.

4. Café Coffee Day, Vashi
This CCD outlet is located on a quiet corner of a crossroad where traffic as well as footfalls are low. It’s private and the music isn’t loud. The peaceful milieu inside the café and on the streets will make you come back.
Food and drink: The new menu has a good variety of snacks and coffees.
Price of a Cappuccino: Rs. 53
Perks: There are cosy corners for professional meetings and discussions.
Tip: Come in here when you want to cut off from the humdrum of everyday life, forget about everything and pour yourself into work.

5. more freelance-friendly cafés worth checking out
Bru World Café, Malad (W)
Black wicker chairs and Irish pub-green umbrellas make up this chain’s signature outdoors seating areas. The interiors are comfortable, the menu has on offer good food (wraps, sandwiches, tostadas, puffs) and well-priced coffee. That’s why this location is a hot favourite with many executives and freelancers. The café has relaxed corners with couches that double up as good meeting areas.

With a dearth of cafés offering free Wifi Internet in Powai, this chain by Reliance Web World is one of the only places that is a good option if you don’t own a data card.

7. Wrapped, 4 Points by Sheraton, Navi Mumbai, Vashi
This 4-star hotel’s 24-hour coffee shop is a quiet spot to get work done when you, for instance, need to beat your writer’s block at 2 am! They whip up everything from biryani, parathas and sandwiches to omelettes and cereal.

8. Silver Beach Café, Juhu
This all-glass café is a great place to work from as the wooden table and leather couch booths are very comfortable. There’s a lot of natural light too. The European café’s menu includes sides such as hummus and falafel, wasabi mash, sautéed mushrooms and sandwiches. Ordering consistently every 1-2 hours is a must here.
