After holding the UPA to ransom for more than three years since its inception, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee finally got the jolt from the Congress. After its largest ally was clearly shown its ‘irrelevance’ for the ruling dispensation in the Presidential election, the Congress is set to ignore Trinamool’s numerous red flags and go ahead with major pending reforms measures. Banerjee, however, said on Friday, “The game is not yet over.”

Top Congress managers believe that Banerjee tried to consolidate her minority vote bank and also send a feeler to non-UPA opposition parties.

But she failed to read the Congress back-up plans and was left isolated with Mulayam Singh Yadav rallying behind the UPA. But her temperamental dealing perhaps also ruined her possibilities to strike a better bailout package for West Bengal, according to Congress managers.

Congress sources said Banerjee also mistook Congress chief’s politeness in their meeting on Wednesday. After rejecting all her names, when Banerjee told Gandhi she would announce her list of candidates, Gandhi reportedly smiled and said, “best of luck!” Banerjee, known for her impatience, perhaps didn’t realise Congress has run of out patience with her.
