“Thimble removes many of the barriers for novice users trying to learn code, and includes a series of starter projects and templates to help anyone get started quickly,” said Matt Thompson, Mozilla Communications Director.
Thimble is hosted at the new webmaker.org website alongside additional cloud-based Webmaker tools like interactive video-editing app Popcorn and a cool code inspection tool called X-Ray Googles that enables users to see and edit the building blocks of the web on sites across the internet.
For the uninitiated, there are ample video tutorials and tips to help you create everything from an interactive video to a shiny new 3D web page.
Mozilla’s web creation tools are being launched in advance of Mozilla’s Summer Code Party, a global event that invites people to learn about coding and the web through experimentation and play.
Mozilla’s Summer Code Party launches on June 23 with the Global Weekend of Code and continues through summer.
