Sunny Deol’s TV debut in a fix
Actor Sunny Deol’s debut TV outing, a stunt-based show called Jaanbaaz, has hit a roadblock again. This time, rumours say that the show may be scrapped altogether as some technical issues have resurfaced.
According to earlier reports, production company Colosceum had brought together Bollywood’s top stunt men for this series. As part of the show, the artistes were supposed to fight it out for an opportunity to direct their own action sequences in a movie. They also stood a chance to win a cash prize. The shooting for the show came to a halt after roughly 15 episodes were filmed.
In December last year, the channel — Zee TV — had implied that the show would go on air soon after the Indian Premier League ended. However, there has been no news since then, even though the show was first announced two years ago. Meanwhile, Dance India Dance Li’l Masters has already come on air. It will be followed by Shaabash India’s next season and a new game show.
Insiders say that Jaanbaaz’s makers, who shot episodes with normal cameras, were being pushed to re-shoot everything on HD (high definition) cameras. Zee TV and the production house even toyed with the idea of re-shooting all the 25 episodes, which were filmed on lavish sets and scenic locations within Maharashtra, from scratch. But that probably didn’t work out.
Our informer says, “Earlier it was the rains and technical glitches that didn’t let us complete the show. Now there are problems with Sunny’s dates. He’s been busy with other work and hasn’t allotted time to the producers to complete the shoot. Now it’s up to the channel to decide what should be done with the footage we have already shot and whether the show will ever see the light of day.”
Spokespersons at Zee TV and Colosceum were not willing to comment.
