In 2011, Khan along with his brother-in-law Vedant Malik, opposed the passing of the State Government of India's new law to increase the age limit for alcohol consumption to 25 by filing a Public Interest Litigation against the law. "It's completely unfair to expect that one has to wait till 25 years to exercise his freedom of choice regarding one's lifestyle. Young India is not as irresponsible as the older establishment assumes it to be," he had said in an interview.QUOTABLE QUOTES
"I use Khan (mother's surname) because in a sense my mom has been a single parent to me. It has been my mother all the way and that's the reason I am a Khan."
"Salman, Shah Rukh, Aamir - they are like legends now, they have been here for more than 20 years. It takes that much time to build up that kind of fan following. It can't happen in two years. You have to consistently build an audience."
"Most journalists have an exam sheet which comprises - what is your favourite colour, your favourite holiday destination, what you like to do in your free time. This is not an interview, this is a questionnaire. I feel to make a good interview, be it print, radio or TV, it has to be a conversation. Fifty percent of the job is yours, half the job is mine. That is how you make a good interview."
"I am very particular about the recovery of my business. I charge less money than most of my contemporaries. I don't like to burden my film upfront. I tend to take a share in the profit of the film. It's a risk - you are gambling on the success of your film."
"Ranbir Kapoor is a better actor and I don't see any competition as there is space for everyone over here. You have Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir mamu enjoying their space and following. The industry can afford dozen stars in between."
"I don't wear designer clothes, I am a very simple looking guy; I wear T-shirts, jeans and canvas shoes. I can be anybody on screen people see and identify themselves, their friend, and brother in me. Because I am not pretending and trying to do what I am not. I don't play larger than life characters."
"Kareena is basically a chill out, friendly, sweet person who makes you comfortable while working. She doesn't have any air around her of being the B-Town power house."
"I don't understand this idea of competition. If somebody's films flops it's not going to help me and if somebody's film is a hit it's not going to help me either."
"It's the audience who decides the fate of a film. A critic's opinion is restricted to one ticket. Those who come in numbers again and again make the difference at the box office."
"The best thing to work with Deepika is that first you get better as an actor as she makes sure that you also improve and second you become more hard working."
