On July 2, 1937, Earhart left in Electra, her flying laboratory, never to be found again. After many search and rescue missions, she was declared legally dead in 1959. Her death still remains a mystery.
Popularly known as the Queen of Air, Earhart also wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences such as 20 Hrs., 40 Min.: Our Flight in the Friendship and The Fun Of It.
