The chief minister said that the power crisis was serious in the state and Samajwadi Party government was not responsible for this.
"We have inherited the problem from the previous BSP government", Yadav said, adding the Mayawati government did nothing on this front.
The chief minister, laying stress on more power generation, said the entire power distribution system had collapsed in the state during the last few years. Yadav said during previous regime of Mulayam Singh Yadav (2003-07) two projects- Roja and Lanco- were installed and thereafter there was no movement forward.
Yadav also asked the central government for better coal linkage to increase generation. He also emphasized on co-generation from sugar mill waste and tapping of solar energy. The chief minister has also invited private sector in solar energy sector for which a policy would soon be rolled out.
The chief minister said since he was also holding charge of energy department it was his personal responsibility to improve the situation. He also warned the officers of stern action in case of slackness.
