After producing an array of shows like Parindey and Tere Mere Beach Mein, Shah Rukh Khan’s TV production unit had reportedly shut shop. However, enquiries with the actor reveal a different story: “I may outsource the work of Red Chillies Idiot Box, but as of now, the unit hasn’t shut down. It’s on hold. We have a string of shows. After that, we may not make any new ones. I plan to focus on the VFX wing and the film production.”

This year, Red Chillies’s VFX division has won various accolades including the National Award for RA.One (2011). Last year, SRK even said that he’d like to use his VFX studio for his productions.

If that’s the case, how does he plan to make the money to keep his studio running? “It’s been 12 years since we started. We haven’t lost money, but we haven’t made any. Currently we’re working on Krrish 3 and have finished Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam. We also have Yashji’s (Yash Chopra) Diwali release and Rohit Shetty’s next,” says SRK, who is the brand ambassador for Videocon DDB. “If I hang on to this company for another two to three years, I’m sure we’ll make money.”
