The city police busted an alleged rave party at a restaurant in Sadar locality on Sunday night and arrested 173 people, along with 38 girls, including a college going daughter of a BJP legislator.

According to available information, the cops moved in when the party was at its peak. Among those detained included wards of who’s who of the city. “All the youngsters were sent to government run medical college and hospital for a medical test,” informs Ankush Dhanvijay, commissioner of police (CP).

A search on the internet revealed that the owner of the restaurant, Mandeep Singh had tapped social networking site - Facebook — to promote the joint and also charged high entry fees from male and female.  During the examination of documents of the restaurant, the police team found that lounge had no licence for performance, playing music or selling liquor.

It was said that people were being served liquor and drugs and DJs were flown in for the party from Dubai and Bollywood. After reaching there, police team found that most of the youth were heavily drunk. The youth were so much drunk that at first they did not notice that police has raided the party. They kept on dancing and the police had to stop the music to make them realize.

Looking at the inebriated condition of the youth detained, the police were suspecting intake of drugs in the party. “We will initiate appropriate action as soon as get the medical reports,’ Dhanvijay pointed out.

However, locals are apprehensive that there would be political pressure to hush up the matter as a daughter of BJP MLA and sons and daughters of several high profile families are involved in it.
