According to police officials, trouble started when a Sumi youth accused of stealing a bike in Kohima died after members of an Angami organisation allegedly thrashed him.
Kohima is dominated by Angamis while Dimapur is a Sumi stronghold.
Among the properties that were damaged was a resort on the outskirts of Dimapur owned by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s son. Rio belongs to the Angami tribe.
