The Bombay high court on Tuesday granted bail to cartoonist Aseem Trivedi even as the state government considered dropping sedition charges against him.
“The home department is looking into the issue,” said chief minister Prithviraj Chavan.
Trivedi was arrested on Saturday for portraying Parliament and national emblem in poor taste during an India Against Corruption rally in December.

Acting on a PIL, a division bench directed Trivedi's release on a personal bond of Rs. 5,000. “Respecting the order and minister’s assurance, Trivedi will sign the bond and come out at 1pm Wednesday,” said Mayank Gandhi, IAC volunteer.
 
The 24-year-old had Sunday refused to apply for bail.
