Rockstar Ranbir continues his success run with Anurag Basu's Barfi! as the film amasses Rs.
34.20 cr in its opening weekend. The film opened to positive reviews from critics. The word of mouth seems to have done the magic.
"Barfi Monday trends: Multiplexes of
urban centres at par with Sunday morning shows. Fabulous!" tweets trade expert Taran Adarsh.
Adarsh also posted the weekend numbers. "Barfi revised Fri 9.20 cr, Sat 11.50 cr, Sun 13.90 cr. Total: 34.60 cr nett."
The film is especially doing well in multiplexes. "#Barfi was released in less than 700 cinema halls in India [a tiny release as compared to the biggies]. Occupancy at plexes was fantastic," adds Adarsh.
The film's business seems to have picked after a positive word of mouth.
"Barfi has done remarkable business. The film gathered steam with each passing day, rising to the optimum on Saturday and Sunday." Adarsh tweeted.
Critics Verdict: Ranbir Kapoor's Barfi! is a must-watch
There has to be something really special about a movie with two of the lead characters disabled in some way and the third always missing something in her life, and yet it never bogs down the movie or the story. Barfi! is lovely in a touching way that is difficult to define. READ REVIEWS
