The Economist Crossword BookAward in association with Principal Retirement Advisors & Standard Chartered Bank released the nominations for its popular 'The Economist Crossword Book Award 2012' today. This year, the Economist Crossword Book awards commemorates its 11th year anniversary by releasing 'Crossword E Book Of Excerpts', sharing excerpts from the books of previous winners in the last decade, a press release issued here today said.

The popular award nominations have been chosen on the basis of book sales in publishing year 2011. Unlike other categories, the popular award does not have a jury but is instead chosen by avid-readers who vote for their favourite author and book, the release said.

The winner will be announced on October 18, 2012 at the awards ceremony.

Popular award nominations are - 'Revolution 2020' by Chetan Bhagat (Rupa Publications), 'The Secret of The Nagas' by Amish (Westland), 'Women & Weight Loss Tamasha' by Rujuta Diwekar (Westland), 'Can Love Happen Twice?' by Ravinder Singh (Penguin), 'The Incredible Banker' by Ravi Subramanian (Rupa), 'River of Smoke' By Amitav Ghosh (Penguin), 'The Habit of Winning' by Prakash Iyer (Penguin), 'Get To the Top' by Suhel Seth (Random House), 'I Have a Dream' by Rashmi Bansal (Westland), 'The Winning Way' by Harsha & Anita Bhogle (Westland).

Crossword Bookstores COO Kinjal Shah said, "The nomination process gives readers a chance to connect and be a part of process where they choose their favourite authors and reads for the year and also comes as great validation for the nominees who have been chosen based on popularity."
