An Army jawan was killed and two others were seriously injured today in an accidental blast that took place in a barrack in the cantonment area in  Kapurthala. Gernadier Sandeep Kumar (22) of Bhiwani district was killed in the incident while Lance Naik Baldev and Gernadier Deepak were rushed to the hospital after being critically injured in the blast, an Army official said, adding that their condition is stated to be critical.

The explosion occurred when the soldiers were hammering an iron-like substance, SSP Inderbir Singh said.

A case has been registered in this connection and cause of blast would be known only after the forensic report comes, he added.
