The three corporations jointly presented a cheque of Rs. 51 lakh to the wrestler for bringing laurels to the country at the London Olympics.
While the south and north corporations contributed Rs. 20 lakh each, the east corporation contributed the rest Rs. 11 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Kumar told the children present at the venue to actively participate in sports and build a career in the field.
A student of the erstwhile MCD school, Kumar thanked the corporations and said he was proud to have studied in its school.
"Winning the medal required a lot of hardwork, discipline and the blessings of elders," he said.
