The state government is taking utmost care to ensure global aesthetics as far as quality, interiors and visuals are concerned in the proposed international-level Bihar museum coming up in the state capital, which chief minister Nitish Kumar would inaugurate on Bihar foundation day, March 22,
Kumar gave a hint of his inner desire during a power-point presentation at his official residence on Monday evening.
He directed engineers to minutely monitor the quality of the R400 crore project so as to make it one of the most visually delightful structures in the country. "The Bihar museum should be able to compete with the best in the country," he added.
After watching another power-point presentation at the existing Patna museum, Kumar observed, its exterior was quite beautiful and attractive. "It only needs interior work and advise from the consultant for further development as a storehouse of the rich cultural heritage of Bihar," he stated.
He directed the officials to decide before hand what artifacts would be housed in which of the two museums scheduled to be ready in next 18 months. "Once ready, the government would utilize the display of Bihar's rich past to draw Indian and foreign tourists to Bihar and familiarize them with the state's past glory", he noted.
Kumar directed also for separate galleries to display historical and cultural heritage belonging to Sufi, Jain, Mahavir, Buddhist and Sanatan Dharma from Bihar's ancient and middle ages history so as to enable an insight to visitors on the state's past glory.
Art and culture minister Sukhda Pandey said, the Bihar museum would have adequate space for holding cultural functions, besides enough attractions for children. Vatul Raj Mehta, senior consultant, Lord Cultural Resources and consultant to the Bihar museum project, detailed the historical, cultural and architectural artifacts that would be housed in the proposed museum.
Secretary, art and culture, Chanchal Kumar, delineated the design and articles to be kept in the museum. Chief secretary A K Sinha, development commissioner Phul Singh and principal secretary to the chief minister Anjani Kumar Singh were also present on the occasion.
