Playing second fiddle to EA’s ever-improving FIFA series for years, Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) has been clawing its way back slowly. Gameplay in PES games have always included a bit of an arcade charm. In PES 2013, the magic returns.
The game includes a few new elements that completely
transform the experience. The most impactful of these is first touch. Press RT as you receive the ball and you’ll trap it, chest it down or be able to turn around your marker. Holding RT allows for better close control, and in defence, allows you to contain opposition runs.
You can now perform manual passes and shots by holding LT. The AI shines in PES 2013. Off-the-ball runs are intelligent, defenders track back cleverly, and strikers look to break the offside trap. PES 2013 also features official licenses to Champions League and Europa League, with a familiar TV-style presentation.
Platforms: PS3 ( Rs. 2,999), Xbox 360 ( Rs. 2,999), PC ( Rs. 1,499)
Also play: FIFA 2013
Verdict: It returns to what made us fall in love with the series in the first place.
