The Hunger Games finale finds a scriptwriter
Danny Strong will write the last chapter of the Hunger Games saga, which will be broken down into two films, according to Deadline.com.
Strong, who is remembered as Jonathan Levinson in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has proven his ability to pen political intrigue with the television films Recount and Game Change. Lionsgate is banking on his talents for the last two films of the Hunger Games trilogy, based on Suzanne Collins' bestselling novels, which are permeated with political subtext.
The Hunger Games tells the story of Katniss Everdeen, a young woman who becomes the face of a rebellion in Panem, a dystopian nation set on the continent once known as North America. Every year, Panem's government organizes a televised bloodsport that pits teens against each other in a massive death match for entertainment.
Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Philip Seymour Hoffman are currently on the set of the second movie, Hunger Games: Catching Fire, directed by Francis Lawrence. The film will hit theaters worldwide in November 2013.
