Suresh Raina has often been a trending topic on micro blogging site Twitter for his batting blitzkrieg. However on Friday, he and his 'nephew' were trending for a reason he would not have desired. A tweet from his account ridiculed Pakistan cricket team. The tweet sent after Pakistan were beaten by Sri Lanka in the semi-final match of World T20 in Colombo on Thursday said: "Ek do din late gaye ghar !!!! Woh bhi besharam ki tarah Gaye... Bye bye Pakistan!!!! "

The tweet was deleted a little later but the cricketer took one long day to realise his mistake and came up with a clarification.

On Friday, Suresh Raina tweeted an explanation that the controversial tweet was actually sent out by his nephew.

"Smart phones r dangerous. Discovered it last night after my nephew posted random tweets. I'm a sportsman and would never disrespect," he tweeted.

"Though I already deleted it, I felt its better to clarify. To all those who r upset, I'm sorry. I'm not one to show disrespect."

But Twitterati questioned the 'flimsy' excuse and some even poked fun at the limited-overs specialist and his 'nephew', to the extent that it gave birth to the spoof account @raina_nephew.

The oddity of the incident was how could his nephew get hold of his smartphone and tweet a random message in a span of mere two minutes.

Pakistan made it to the semi finals on the basis of higher run-rate after India could not restrict South Africa to 121 in their do-or-die Super Eight clash, Tuesday.

Pakistan crashed out of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup after they were beaten by Sri Lanka on Thursday.
