I don’t face visa issues: Shafqat Amanat Ali
He might have faced problems in getting an Indian visa earlier but Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan says that things have now changed for artists from across the border.
“The Indian embassy in Pakistan is very helpful. I don’t face any problem in visa issues with them. I’m still getting them easily and I visit India frequently now,” Shafqat told us on the phone from Pakistan. “There used to be problems earlier but it’s a very smooth process now. They just need to know you well and get along well with your team and it becomes pretty easy,” added the singer, who will be performing at The Dewarists Stage at the two-day Bacardi NH7 Weekender musical gala in Noida, this month.
“Working with The Dewarists as part of a team has been a learning experience. We’ve also recorded a new song and shot a video,” said Shafqat, who is also happy with the window that India has provided to Pakistani artists to come and work here. “In Pakistan, we don’t have an industry where we can give our ideas and experiment with our art. So the best place we have is India and its film industry which has been very encouraging to us,” he said. “Bollywood hasn’t been cruel to anyone you know — be it talent from India or across the border or anywhere. It has room for everyone,” he added.
