Within minutes he lost his consciousness as the lions pounced on him and dragged him for more than 50 feet.
The lions left the man when the zoo staff pushed them to their cages by hooting.
He suffered multiple bites on his neck, legs and hands and was taken to a hospital and is now out of danger.
After regaining consciousness, he admitted to the doctors and media persons that he came to the zoo after a quarrel with his wife.
Nandankanan Zoo assistant director KL Purohit told Hindustan Times, “The zoo authorities take adequate security measures for the visitors, but after the incident we have asked our staff to be extra careful.”
Purohit added that the victim's family had been informed about the incident.
