With an endeavour to enlighten the youth of today about the rich history of Sikhism, Sukhwinder Singh, CEO, Vismaad Mediatech, is ready with his fifth animated Sikh history movie, Bhai Subeg Singh Shahbaz Singh, which is a sequel to his fourth — Bhai Taru Singh: True Saint. Fearless
“Till date, Vismaad has created five animated films and I have managed the script, direction and screenplay for them all. This fifth one, about the father-son duo is an inspiration for parents and children alike,” said Sukhwinder, announcing that their fifth film will be screened in Chandigarh for the first time today (Sunday) at the Bhargava Auditorium, PGI, at 6 pm.
Their previous movies include Sahibzadey (2005), Banda Singh Bahadur (2006), Sundri: The Brave Kaur (2008) and Bhai Taru Singh: True Saint. Fearless Soldier (2010)
Sharing more about the 80-minute long film, he said, “Twenty-five people worked hard for seven months to create this film and the budget we were working on was of Rs. 1.5 crore.”
When asked if the movie plans to hit theatres, he said, “Cinema is a different ball game altogether. To reach there, we have to go through distributors, who are not interested in religious films. They need moneymakers, which comprise of your typical commercial cinema. Thus, I prefer screening the movie at auditoriums, gurdwaras and open air screens.”
Who were Bhai Subeg Singh and Shahbaz Singh?
“Every Sikh remembers their sacrifice in the daily prayer (ardas), when we say, “Charkhadiyan te chadhe.” They were the two great Sikhs who were tied on separate set of wheels opposite each other and the wheels were operated to rip of the flesh of these two brave Singhs of Guru Gobind Singh,” said Sukhwinder and added, “They were the real heroes, and should be remembered by generations to come.”
What is the film about?
“It brings to screen the story of an exceptional father-son duo, while depicting the rustic imagery of the 18th century Punjab. The movie has a powerful story line, which will give viewers an insight into Sikh family life and values.”
