Meet the members of Delhi-based band Rewa, who will present a mix of slow rock, pop, reggae, jazz, Sufi, Hindi, and English songs, this Wednesday
Here’s what the band has to say about their music, influences and performancesWhat sort of music can we expect from
Music doesn’t have any language. So, while we are performing, one may expect slow rock, pop, reggae, jazz, Sufi, commercial Hindi and English. How did the band come together?
All the band members know each other since our teenage years. We often used to jam with few acoustic instruments. One day, we realised that we are meant to play music and formed the band thereafter. Why this name?
The name is derived from Kandisa track, Rewa. Indian Ocean is one of our favourite bands. The album had a beautiful track, Maa Rewa - a folklore about the River Rewa (Narmada). The video depicts Narmada Mandir in Amarkantak in Annupur District of Madhya Pradesh from where the river starts its journey and then the Narmada Valley in its course further. Deeply moved by the track, we decided to name our band Rewa. What do you think people remember most about your gigs?
The fact that we don’t stick to one particular genre and get the taste of different genres at one platform. What do you think of the music scene in Delhi? Has it changed over the years?
The music scene has definitely changed a lot over the past few years. Now, every club/pub is playing music in the evening, especially on weekends. Obviously, this is happening because there’s a demand for it. Sufi music, too, is on a rise these days, in the city. Do you guys enjoy performing in Delhi? Why?
Of course, I must say Delhi people are wonderful music listeners. We love playing music for Delhiites, they sway as the music grooves. Delhi has our Dil. What would you say is the best place in Delhi to make music?
Music has a connection with the heart. If your heart speaks for music, you can make music anywhere be it crowded metro or high streets. If you could play at any gig in the world, it would be...
Any world sport event because that involves the youth and the young generation has a direct connection with our music.
