Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday will visit the family of the 15-year-old Dalit girl who immolated herself after being allegedly gangraped on October 6 at Sacha Khera village in Jind district. The teenager suffered 90% burns and died at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak.
 
Sirsa Congress MP Ashok Tanwar said he was on his way to Sacha Khera. Five people have been arrested in the case.

According to the victim’s statement, recorded by a magistrate before she died, around 1pm she was passing by the house of her father's cousin when a village resident dragged her inside. Subsequently two men allegedly raped her. The victim’s father, a labourer, told HT she was saved after a passerby alerted him.
Since September, 12 cases of rape and gangrape have been reported in the state.
