The victim was identified as Babuganj resident Urvashi Tiwari, wife of Hari Prakash Tiwari. The assailant Jabbar also resided in the same ocality.
According to police, Jabbar attacked Urvashi with a knife while she was returning home after purchasing medicine from a shop near IT crossing around 9.15pm.
The woman’s family friend Om Prakash, 50, was accompanying her at the time of incident. On hearing the screams of the woman, locals rushed to the spot and took Urvashi to the trauma centre where she succumbed to injuries during treatment. Om Prakash’s condition was critical till last reports came in.
Senior superintendent of police RK Chaturvedi said, “The incident seems to be a fallout of an extramarital affair.”
Homeguards misbehave with eve-teasing victimsIn another shocking incident, two home guards chided and chased two sisters away when they complained of eve teasing against some unidentified youths at IT crossing in Hasanganj police area on Tuesday evening.
The Aliganj resident girls were travelling in their scooty when the incident took place.
Two home guards, Anoop Kumar Shukla and Vivek Rastogi, present at the crossing humiliated the girls in full public view when they went to register their complaint. The home guards even misbehaved with two passers-by when they came in support of the girls.
