State president of JEs council RK Choudhary said that the management had failed to settle the demands of JEs even after a meeting with the management this Monday. Protestors stated that the management was non-committal even on the release of arrears on account of pay revision, which was a cause of unrest.
The protestors said that the management was not serious on revising the pay structure of its Junior Engineers & restoration of Pay Parity of JEs with divisional superintendent.
The council leadership also criticized the PSTCL for making separate recruitments in violation of tripartite agreement.
Recently, the management had unilaterally amended qualification for direct recruitment to facilitate the induction of more and more graduate engineers to man assistant engineer & junior engineer level posts. This was against the interest of diploma engineers and ITI qualified employees.
