A bench said these occupants did not have “any legal or constitutional right” to occupy these premises. It issued the directions after additional solicitor general AS Chandhiok claimed the government was unable to allot residential accommodation to members of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) as there were not enough of them on account of illegal occupation.
For the last one year, NGT members have been staying in government guest houses and state bhawans. The next date of hearing is December 5.
