In a one sided show he talked about achievements of Congress government and urged students to join student body National Student Union of India (NSUI). Students had sent their questions but the same went for a toss as Rahul Gandhi was on his own trip and spoke on issues of his choice. This was his second visit to the varsity, he first visited in 2009.
Further taking a dig at the opposition he said that all the money sent from centre to Punjab state for scholarships was returned by the state to centre without being utilised. During his visit he was also accompanied by Congress leaders Captain Amarinder Singh and Sunil Jhakar. Captain Amarinder Singh criticised Deputy CM of Punjab Sukhbir Badal for donating Rs. 1 crore to his Alma mater Lawerence School, Sanawar. Rahul Gandhi during his speech followed the footsteps of Capt Amarinder Singh and he too criticised the Akali government for making such a donation.
Rahul Gandhi also before leaving shook hands with a few students and welcomed four students from varsity who decided to join NSUI. He encouraged the girl students to join politics and said that he would one day want to see a girl becoming CM of Punjab State. The Congress General Secretary who did not interact for more than ten minutes with the students, made no impact on students, who had come with expectation of having an interactive session.
