Activists of IAC and Rashtriya Vikalang Party sat on dharna for three hours at Janpath Road, 50 mts from the PM’s residence, after being denied permission to proceed.
Kejriwal and his supporters wanted to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to hand over a memorandum demanding Khurshid's removal, for the alleged financial misappropriation by the Dr Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust run by Khurshid and his wife, Louise.
Khurshid has trashed the allegations and Louise has filed a civil defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against the TV Today group for having telecast the sting operation alleging siphoning of funds on its channels - Aaj Tak and Headlines Today.
According to sources aware of the development, Louise has sought Rs. 100 crore as damages in her suit.
Louise also issued a statement contradicting news reports that the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) has found financial irregularities in the trust.
"I have it on authority from the C&AG's office that the document being flashed by certain news channels is not a CAG report. It is merely an excerpt from an initial internal inspection report which has sought clarifications from the social justice ministry," said Louise.
Her reaction was in response to news reports that the CAG had detected financial misappropriation in a grant of Rs. 71 lakh released by the centre to the trust for the purchase of certain appliances meant to be used by disabled people.
