LPG consumers beware! The cylinders reaching your doorsteps may not be containing the promised quantity of gas. A delivery boy of a local gas agency, who was caught transferring gas from filled cylinders to empty ones to sell them in the market on Friday, spilled the beans and revealed that such a practice was not uncommon.

Sunil, an employee of Hoshiarpur Gas Agency, was caught red-handed in Faqir Chand locality when he was filling empty cylinders. He confessed that he had been doing this unscrupulous job for quite some time.

He said he did so to make extra profit as the agency did not pay him much. He did not name any other delivery boy indulging in the same practice, but did not rule out the possibility that more persons could be stealing gas from cylinders meant for home delivery. The police have registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC against him.
