Just 48 hours after the crime, the city police on Saturday arrested a man and recovered Rs. 9 lakh cash that he had stolen from his neighbour’s house in Krishna Nagar. The accused committed theft in his neighbour’s place on Thursday night after he came to know about the latter had kept a hefty amount in his house by selling his parental land.

The accused was identified as Pradeep Kumar of Deoria and was staying here in rented house in Krishna Nagar’s Narayanpuri locality. He committed theft in the house of one Ajay Kumar who stays in another rented portion of the same house. According to the police, Ajay had plans to start his business but did not have enough money for this purpose. Inspector Ram Sanehi Yadav, Krishna Nagar police station in charge said Pradeep was the prime suspect as he was missing after locking his room.
