Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar on Friday denied any wrongdoing over him holding IRB shares. "If me or my wife had purchased shares of one particular company and sold it next year, I don't understand how I am answerable for that. Anyone can do that. Anyone can buy shares in any company," he told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Chennai.

Reacting to reports in this regard, he alleged the media was "going to that level," and said he was sorry to say that.

Reports in a section of media had said Pawar had held 1,000 shares in BJP President Nitin Gadkari-linked Ideal Road Builders (IRB) as on March 31, 2011.

Pawar declined to respond to allegations of irregularities surrounding Gadkari.
