As polls continue to reflect a close contest for the White House, President Barack Obama is making an effort to fire up his campaign.
On Thursday, he became the first president to vote early, a practice that’s caught on so fast almost a third of US voters are expected to cast their votes before election day in 2012.

Obama cast his vote in Chicago, during a whirlwind 48-hour non-stop tour of battleground states that ended Thursday. His wife beat him, though, voting on October 15.

Resorts to insult

He also resorted to insults. He used the word “bullsh***er” in the context of Romney’s ever-changing positions in an interview to a magazine.

When responding to a suggestion on his popularity among kids, he said: “You know, kids have good instincts. They look at the other guy and say, ‘Well, that’s a bullsh***er, I can tell,” the US President said.

The president is “rattled and defensive”, said a Romney campaign advisor Kevin Madden.” He’s running on empty and has nothing left but attacks and insults.”
