A popular hub for theatre enthusiasts in the city, Prithvi, is back with its annual theatre festival after a break of two years. The fest, which starts on November 3, will include 41 performances by 29 productions. They include Naseeruddin Shah-starrer A walk In The Woods, Nandita Das’s Between The Lines, Peter Pan, Ravanleela, Zinga Zinga Roses, and Piya Behroopiya, which is an Indianised version of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

“The focus of our festival constantly changes depending on what we think needs promoting and encouraging for the performing groups as well as the audiences,” says Kunal Kapoor, director, Prithvi Theatre. “I would like to think that all the festivals have achieved the desired aims. That’s probably why we are still here and at it three decades on.”

Nandita’s Between the Lines will be staged on the seventh day of the festival. About her character, she says, “Maya has a fair amount of me and where I find myself today, in the midst of juggling many things.” Ask her if she’ll be catching other shows at the festival and she replies, “Mumbai traffic and my little son, Vihaan, who also needs my time, will probably reduce the number of trips I can make. But I suggest people should catch as many plays as they can.”
