“She was underweight, anaemic and malnourished, but now she is absolutely fine and her condition is normal,” Dr JK Mittal, who treated her, said.
Initially, Damini was on ventilator, but later taken off the life support system.
Damini's mother died after giving birth to her at a government hospital in Bharatpur in eastern Rajasthan on September 15.
With no one to care for his baby, father Bablu slung Damini across his chest as he pedalled across the city.
Help from individuals and the state government poured in after the father-daughter struggle came to light.
Bablu, 34, has received financial support of over Rs. 17 lakh for Damini so far.
“My aunt’s daughter who lives near Bharatpur recently gave birth. She has agreed to nurse my daughter too,” he said. Bablu intends to start a small business, possibly a tea stall, and ensure good care and education for Damini.
