The local police on Tuesday claimed to have rescued a five-year-old girl who was abducted from Tapa, near here, on November 3.
SSP Snehdeep Sharma said Khushi had been abducted while she was alone at her house. He said her parents were estranged and Khushi lived with her father Sunil Kumar. The SSP said Sunil complained to them that bangle-seller Draupadi and one Buta Singh were seen in their street that day and they might have abducted her daughter.

A team led by Tapa DSP Harvinder Singh Virk raided Draupadi's house at Handaya, near here, and recovered the girl from there.

The police said the tow admitted that they had abducted the girl with a view to selling her off.
