Two pre-nursery students — both three-and-a-half years old — were allegedly molested by a caretaker of Mother’s Pride school in Indirapuram in the national capital region. Police arrested the school caretaker, Sher Singh, on Tuesday. About two months ago, the driver and conductor of a school bus were arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a six-year-old girl student of DPS, Vasundhara.

The molestation case came to light on Tuesday, when one of the children refused to attend school. When her mother, who happens to be a teacher at the same school, enquired, she said the caretaker had molested her and a classmate during recess.

The girl also told her mother that the caretaker had done this quite a few times and warned them not to mention it to anyone. Twenty-five-year-old Singh has been employed with the school for the past three years.

The victim’s parents claimed to have reported the matter to the school authorities on Tuesday morning and were assured by the school authorities that immediate action would be taken. But they alleged that the school authorities did not report the matter to the police till late evening.

Gorakh Nath Yadav, station in-charge of Indirapuram police station said, “We have arrested the accused and booked him for molestation. Police will investigate the role of the school authorities in the matter. Both students have been sent for the medical examination.”

He added that police investigations were underway and they were questioning Singh, who would be produced in a Ghaziabad court on Wednesday.
