The local police claim to have seized 5kg of heroin worth Rs. 60 crore in the international market and nabbed two drug dealers near the India-Pakistan border.
SSP Varinder Pal Singh said that following a tip-off, a joint team of the local police and the counter-intelligence wing, Jalandhar, laid a naka at Wahka village. They signalled a motorcycle to stop, but its three occupants tried to flee. Two of them were nabbed but the third fled the spot.

The two were identified as Sucha Singh of Palla Megha village and Angrej Singh of Chughe Kishore village; the one who fled the spot was identified as Bohar Singh of Wahka village.

On being searched, a plastic bag with 12 packets containing the heroin was recovered.

A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the accused at Mamdot police station.

Sucha had already been booked in several cases of drug smuggling and seizure of arms, said the SSP.

During investigation, Sucha confessed to repeatedly travelling to Pakistan.
