The woman was later brought to Chandni Mahal police station and a case of kidnapping and obstructing a public servant in discharging of public functions was registered against her.
During interrogation, she identified herself as Pinki, a resident of Rithala in northwest Delhi, police said.
Additional commissioner of police (central) Devesh Chandra Shrivastava said investigation revealed the woman was mentally unstable and was undergoing treatment at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.
“It was also learnt that she was missing from her house for the past five days. Initially, we suspected her to be a member of an organised racket that kidnaps minor children from the city. However, our investigation revealed that she committed the crime unintentionally,” a police officer said.
He also said that Pinki's husband, who works in a private company, has not lodged a missing complaint.
