A schoolboy was abducted by unidentified criminals in Morena on Tuesday evening. The boy Shubham, an 11-year-old, was taken away by bike-borne abductors. He was returning home from school when the youths, riding a black motorcycle, intercepted him. Superintendent of police ( SP), Morena, A Jayadevan said that the victim, Shubham, is son of Ramakant Sharma, a resident of Gulpada locality in Sumawali. Shubham is a student of Class III.

Sources said that the abductors had stopped the boy and asked his father’s name. Then they told him about where his father would be found at that point of time. When the boy said that he could be near the well in the fields, they asked him to guide them. The duo made him ride the bike and then sped off. The kid’s sisters reached home and informed the family members about the incident. The fears of the family about abduction were proved when the family received a call from the kidnappers. They demanded a ransom of Rs. 2.5 lakh for the safe release of the boy.

Shubham was returning from school along with his sisters on foot when he was taken away. There has been no clue about the abductors’ identity. The Morena police have registered a case and begun investigation in this regard. Efforts are on to recover the boy safely, said police.
