There is finally some good news for over 2,000 flat allottees of the Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) 2010 housing scheme.
Though most of the total 16,000 allottees of the housing scheme have been given possession of their flats, a large number of them still do not have power or water
Over the last few months, Hindustan Times had highlighted the plight of these allottees who paid large amounts to buy these flats. They now both have to pay house loan installments as well as live in rented accommodation as the flats are not livable.
The DDA has now tied up with power discoms to provide permanent power supply to the allottees of four major housing complexes in the next one week. The areas included are Mukherjee Nagar, Jasola, Molarband and Dwarka Sector 26.
Special camps to facilitate the issuance of electric connections will be held on November 10 and 16 at Mukherjee Nagar and Dwarka sector 26 and on November 9 and 16 at Jasola and Molarband.
“Camps will be held to facilitate the release of electric connections to allottees with help from power discoms,” said a senior DDA official, who didn’t wish to be named. “Officials from power discoms will be available at these camps to be held at the DDA offices of these sites between 10 am and 4 pm,” the official said.
Allottees will have to bring a copy of their flat’s possession and allotment letters, identification proof and two passport size pictures. Allottees, however, feel that it is too little coming too late.
“Some families have shifted to their flats and have to buy water and make do with temporary power connections taken from site contractors. There is still no water supply and even the underground reservoirs are under construction,” said an allottee of the Mukherjee Nagar multi-storey housing complex.
“I am paying a huge sum for my EMI (equated monthly installments) for the last four months and I still don’t know when all amenities would be available so that my flat becomes livable,” said an allottee of Jasola flats.
