Army spokesman JS Brar said that "terrorists trying to sneak into Indian territory near Hanuman top at 1:30am on Thursday night were intercepted by alert security forces on the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran Sector".
"They were armed with huge quantity of ammunition to target innocent civilians and security forces," the official said.
Brar claimed that four militants were killed during the operation.
"Huge quantity of war like stores were recovered which included five AK-47 rifles," he said.
"This is a desperate attempt to ensure maximum infiltration by the other side, before the traditional routes of infiltration close due to snow. The Indian Army will ensure that none of these efforts succeed," the spokesman said.
