The book is a compilation of articles and editorials by Rangnekar, who was the editor of the Economic Times for 14 years from 1965 and then of Business Standard. He passed away in 1984.
Quoting Rangnekar, Jalan said, "There is no lack of foreign exchange, food grains, transportation, kerosene, etc. but it fails to get delivered to the beneficiary."
He said Rangnekar could then see the policy paralysis that exists even today.
Sanjaya Baru, director, Geo-economics and Strategy, International Institute for Strategic Studies pointed out, "There is a remarkable freshnesh to Rangnekar's essay even today, it is because they ring so true."
