Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Elie Wiesel is planning on writing a book with Barack Obama, according to Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

In 2009, the pair visited the remains of Buchenwald concentration camp together, becoming friends in the process and maintaining contact since, explained Wiesel.

Wiesel came to prominence with the 1960 publication of the Holocaust memoir Night (originally La Nuit) and wrote the play The Trial of God; 1985 novel The Fifth Son won a Grand Prix in Literature from the City of Paris, will his most recent, Otage (Hostage), is yet to be translated into English.

The Obama-Wiesel project would be the fourth book written by Barack Obama, but the first with a co-author credit should the plan materialize, a rarity among presidential authors.

Jimmy Carter, another Democratic president and a prolific writer, also shares co-author status on two of his works: Everything to Gain was written with his wife, Rosalynn, and The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleejer with his daughter, Amy.
