The vigilance bureau had registered a case against him on July 17 when vigilance sleuths had recovered 1.5kg opium, beside Rs. 36 lakh in cash and documents of property worth crores from his house at Dr Ambedkar Nagar on July 17.
The vigilance bureau had also registered a separate case under Prevention of Corruption Act.The vigilance bureau may take him on production warrant for questioning.
Meanwhile, the arrest of MVI has sent many officers of the transport office and middlemen in a tizzy, as they feared that the MVI could take their names before vigilance officers and the vigilance sleuths could haul them over the coals.
According to sources, the MVI had surrendered himself to the police.
