He further said the government was also making efforts to shorten the process of releasing the ailing and aged inmates.
As part of the plan, a seriously ailing convict, who has completed 20 years in jail and aged above 65 years would be sent to the jail of his native district.
A committee consisting district magistrate, superintendent of police, jail superintendent and probation officer would talk to such inmates and submit a report to the government.
On the basis of the report, the government would take decision on the release of the inmate.
This exercise would be carried out after every three months. Singh also assured the jail warders of promotion.
"Process for promoting the jail warders was also on," Singh said.
The central jail administration has sent a list of 35 warders for promotion to the state headquarters, central jail superintendent AK Rai said.
