"It was suggested that the government must crack down on gross polluting vehicles. The transport department and Delhi Police might be instructed to take action against grossly polluting vehicles and impose a fine of R2,000 on the spot," said a senior Delhi government official.
"It was also suggested that stringent action, including fine, may be charged during the
next three months," added the official.
"All commercial vehicles entering the city will be checked and those not bound to Delhi will not be allowed to enter," said a senior Delhi government official.
Last week, the Capital was engulfed in dense smog that was attributed to high pollution levels in the city. "We are planning to get a study conducted by IIT-Kanpur and the experts from the Meteorological department," the chief minister said.
